BoilingPoint™ is a replacement for the electric-kettle. BoilingPoint™ repackages the basic elements of an electric-kettle to greatly reduce both the power and water consumed.
What's wrong with a standard kettle?
Electric kettles are actually very efficent at heating water, but most kettles are overfilled. This wastes a huge amount of energy each year.
The electric kettle is the cooking device that consumes the most energy in the home - 29%, compared to 23% by electric hobs.
If everyone in the UK only boiled the water they needed, enough energy would be saved to power all the UK's street lighting for 7 months.
UK households could save £1million a week by not over-filling their kettles.
When you consider that the electric kettle has changed little since it was first introduced in 1891, you see that the time is right for a change.
How does BoilingPoint™ work?
When designing BoilingPoint™ we looked at the problem differently. If you want to get a cup of hot water for tea or coffee, then you should start with a cup of cool water and simply heat it up. BoilingPoint™ works as follows:
Fill your chosen cup with water
Place the cup onto BoilingPoint™ and press down the tab, just like on a toaster
Once the water has boiled the element retracts and you can take your cup
